Christina Brecht, age 26, of Newark, New Jersey, died on February 21, 1876 from complications of an abortion perpetrated by "Dr. and Madam West" on February 18 in New York.
Christina was able to make a will shortly before her death, but either due to weakness or illiteracy was unable to sign it and only made her mark. Although New Jersey death records indicate that she had been born in New York, her parents, Friederich and Christina, were in Germany at the time of her death.
